Hey, I’m Betty!
I spent 14 years in a high-stress technical job, surviving three mergers and providing 24/7 support as a loyal employee. When the layoff finally came, it took some of my favorite team members with me. I have a mortgage, a husband, a family. I probably should have panicked. Instead, I felt nothing but relief and excitement, because now I could finally go rockhounding.
So that’s exactly what I did. I bought a 10-inch stainless steel trim saw from Highland Park Lapidary and started cutting every rock I could find. I rockhound the rivers and beaches of the Pacific Northwest, but I’m just as likely to throw a bag in the truck and drive 2,000 miles for the next adventure.
This site is where I share my adventures. The cuts, the finds, the road trips, and everything I’m learning along the way. I’m still figuring it out and loving every minute of it.
Thanks for being here. See you on the river!
