I cut three rocks from my adventures rockhounding the Oregon coast. The Rock Identifier app says they are Tree agate, Serpentine, and agate. Is that what they are? We cut them open on my Highland Park lapidary 10 inch stainless steel trim saw. Finding, cutting and sometimes polishing rocks, agates, minerals and fossilized wood. Beach combing Oregon king tides for new rock hound finds.

hi nice to meet you you can call me Betty first let’s enjoy 30 seconds of my trip to the coast okay let’s cut some
rocks I decided to try my rock ID app and see how close it could get it says this first rock is a tree agate I’m not sure what a tree agate is but I did run specific gravity measurements on these rocks and this rock came out at 2.62
I think we need to take everything this app says with a grain of salt it’s very pretty whatever it is dark green gold little bit of white beautiful
I will put close-ups of all of the rocks at the end of this video and a little bit of bonus footage from the beach have you heard of a tree agate before is this a tree agate let me know what you think here’s Rock number two the rock identifier app says that this is Serpentine I hope that that’s true this Rock’s specific gravity came out as
2.69 this rock does have a waxy feel and a nice deep green color we’ve had a nice couple of sunny days and there are a few more sunny days coming it’s a nice time to go rock hounding where’s your favorite place to go rock
hounding I’m going to go to the river later this week and I’m planning a Montana trip in May I don’t have any experience with Serpentine or serpentinite but I did wear my respirator I wear my respirator when I cut any
rock is that what this is I hope somebody knows let’s cut rock number
three The Rock ID app says that this one isn’t let’s cut it open the specific gravity came back as 2.75 on this one a lot of the rocks that I test are in the 2.6 to 2.75
range oh well this was a fun batch of rocks let me know what you think this last I believe this is a little piece of petrified wood or maybe agatized wood with the specific gravity at 2.75 is that does that line up do you know let me
know I tried my best to be patient cutting these rocks and I had a little bit easier time getting a Polish on them so maybe I will get better at it we can only hope I really can’t wait to cut the next Rock see you soon
