Hey everybody, it’s me, Betty. I find some amazing agates in this video, and they look blue, but they only look blue because of the Tyndall effect. The Tyndall effect is what makes the sky look blue. It’s caused by little particles suspended in the chalcedony. The particles allow more of the shorter blue light waves through than the long red light waves, making the rock appear blue, even though it’s mostly translucent.
It’s incredibly beautiful out here, so I tried to leave in as much of the rockhounding as I could. I’ll add some timestamps so that you can skip around in the video if you’d like. After the rockhounding, I’ll show you the rocks, cut some of them, and then we’ll take a really good look at them. See you soon. It’s nice and blue.
Oh, that’s pretty cool. Let me see it. Cool. I feel like mosquitoes located. They might have.
It’s about that time. Mosquito time. Uhoh. You all right? You okay?
Are you watching for spiders on me? On you? Yeah. Are you watching for me? No.
Okay. So, all right. We’re in that kind of relationship. So, hold on, man. I think if we get right through this little reprod here, we can go straight up.
Don’t you? Sure. But I would use that stick in front of you cuz Yeah, that’s right. They’re making a new home on my head right now. My bald head.
Ouch. Good thing we dressed for success on this one. What? You have pants with you. You didn’t put them on.
Okay, that was a miss. I agree. Yeah, I think so. Well, you don’t have to backtrack. This is steep.
I know that. Hey, we’re on the right track cuz that’s the rock right over there. So, I can go left. No, we Yeah, if you want, but it’s probably better than that stick up there. What?
Yeah, but this goat trail. This is where we came down. What? Don’t go too far right. Yeah, but hold on.
Yeah, cuz we went around this wood pile. You’re going right. We went around that on the way down. We came through here now. I mean, you can, but that’s a new trail.
Okay. Well, it was to the left. Yeah, I mean I am a dream. I knew on our way down. You feel it on the way up.
Yeah. Knowing that I got 75 lbs of rocks that I didn’t have on the way down. I want to go that way. in my mouth. This is how we burn off the rice from chicken and rice.
You’re doing good. You are keeping the trail. Making progress. We’re almost there. And we’re just about there.
Well, at least to the road. Yeah, good job. made it. Do you have you What do you think? Should I face polish this one?
There’s some What about this one? Isn’t it gorgeous? Oh man, I cannot wait to see this one. We have to polish that. I think we should slice this off.
Just beautiful. What about this one? It deserves a polish too, right? There’s some little crystal activity here in the center of cords going on. Beautiful.
I just think these agates are fantastic. I forgot to show you this yellow one. I like that a lot. I like doors. Oh, I’m missing one.
Just a moment. Oh, it’s right here. H. Now, this one definitely needs to be cut. I’m just going to take a little slice off this.
Get a get a look at it. So, not bad. Not a bad haul. I’m going to take slices off these two just so we can get a slightly better look. Incredible.
I think this is the most incredible thing I’ve ever cut. That’s what I think. I’m blown away. Absolutely blown away. Wow.
Wow. There we go. This side’s beautiful. Needs to be polished, but I’m I’m going to take a couple really thin slices off of this one. All right.
Voila. Oh, sorry. I’m just trying to prop this up. Oh, it’s Wow. I wanted to show you the Tyndall effect on this rock.
You can tell in indirect light it looks blue, but when you hold it up to the window with the light shining through it, the blue tones completely disappear. That’s how you know it’s Tyndall blue. Pretty cool. Holy moly. So freaking awesome.
And we have more rough. That’s pretty. It’s gorgeous. That’s That’s great. Nice job, Fred.
Thank you very much. Hey, what’d you do with the stick? What? Oh, I dropped it a long time ago. Well, we’ll see if we can find it on the way back.
It was not doing good anyway, but okay. Really not wasn’t doing super good, but it’s really not doing good now. I don’t think it’s that far really. Well, I guess I don’t know. Yeah, you don’t know.
Hey, there’s the stick. Sorry. Sorry. But we found it. Heat.
Heat. You
